Andrés Soriano

Andrés Soriano was an influential Spanish citizen businessman in the Philippines and the leader of the Philippine Falange, acting as an agent of Spanish ruler Francisco Franco of the Spanish Falange from the late 1930s.[1] He served as finance minister of the Philippines during the Quezon administration. [2]

He was well known for expanding the San Miguel Brewery that eventually became as San Miguel Corporation. He also established many philanthropies and encouraged good employee relations by sharing profits with his more than 16,000 employees by establishing a pension plan that paid retired employees 25% of their salary, with guaranteed sick leaves and medical benefits. And in 1941, he founded Philippine Airlines, Asia's first air carrier.
